Heaven is God’s kingdom, the realm of the divine Mind. When God’s Mind speaks, it is done. This is the Mind that was also in Christ Jesus that we read about in the Bible. Jesus told us that heaven is within each of us. He didn’t speak of heaven as a future place but as something present now. The Bible assures us that we have this Mind of Christ now.* We all have it. It is ours and available at all times.
Our decision to let this Mind be in us as Jesus let it be in him, opens up an infinite availability of goodness.
To act from the standpoint of this Christly Mind, or awareness of our unbreakable relationship to God, is to have untold power for good. The human mind, thinking from a standpoint of isolation or competition, acts and reacts, worries and then halts altogether. But the divine Mind is forever harmoniously active and its knowing and doing continues forever–out into the far reaches of the universe and backwards and forwards through the corridors of time.
Can’t we see the evidence of this in the astounding value and force of the life and example of Christ Jesus? Though his acts inhabited a time frame over two thousand years ago, they certainly were never confined to those few years of human life. They are as fresh and continually revealing today as when they first occurred. This illustrates the biblical wisdom that “One day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.”** And doesn’t this feel true for all the great biblical characters, whose lives and example continue to unfold wisdom and direction for millions of people around the world in every age? This is because we share the same Mind with them.
When we decide to commit ourselves to having only the Mind of Christ, the power of this one Mind, one God, begins to unfold in us. It brings with it the ability to see through outer appearances and to love deeply the heart of everything we see. It enables us to hold each others’ interests as our own and to see each one as if he or she were as Jesus himself. We come to know that responding with love, even when we don’t receive love, is the most powerful position of all, for nothing can move us from our spiritual peace when we have the Mind of Christ.
