A whisper we sometimes hear in our heads is “not enough.” It plays out in the
background: not good enough, smart enough, strong enough, educated enough, rich enough, understanding enough, persistent enough, timely enough, disciplined enough, loving enough, handsome enough, ambitious enough, interesting enough, focused enough, wise enough, pure enough, obedient enough, rebellious enough, successful enough.
It seems like everyone has that niggling thought crop up sometimes. It shows up when they are trying to do something hard or different than before.
us grew up saying the pledge of allegiance at school every morning in the classroom. The every-dayness of it set it firmly in memory and perhaps in disposition as well. I saw a little video recently of a father and son reciting a different, home-made pledge.
And the Bible does say this, “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;”Acts 17:24, 25
